Leaving Room for Change: Building Adaptability into Video Conferencing Spaces

Posted on 8/2/2022 by Legrand AV Team

As AV professionals, we’ve learned a lot about conferencing in the past few years. The biggest lesson we’ve taken to heart is that the old way of designing conferencing spaces is glaringly lacking in experience compared to the 1:1 video conferencing experience we’ve grown accustomed to.

Still, companies and organizations are hesitant to adopt new approaches to conferencing spaces that keep the realities of hybrid workforce top of mind. The time for a “wait and see” approach is over. With nearly every meeting now being held with a mix of people in the office and joining remotely, it’s incumbent on us to have those user-experience conversations with decision makers.

Creating video conferencing spaces that put people first and encourage collaboration are a necessity to be able to make the case for working in the office. If the experience is worse than the one-to-one interactions we’ve become accustomed to with online platforms, return-to-office becomes a much harder sell.

“In this changing hybrid workforce environment, it’s worth taking a step back to re-evaluate traditional conference room designs to discover ways to add value and make hybrid working environments frictionless,” said Alan Jacobson, Solutions Engineer with Legrand | AV.

Adaptable AV Solutions to the Rescue

With some shrewd planning, AV systems can be specified with solutions that improve the experience now and leave room for future expansion/reduction depending on the needs that emerge in the coming years.

Preparing for future conference room scalability can significantly impact initial product choices. Specifying the more adaptable solution now can leave the door open when it comes time to upsize the room without having to start over because the more economical option doesn’t work well with other solutions. Your clients can get peace of mind that the systems you put in place today will adapt and scale to properly outfit tomorrow’s changing workplace landscape.

That goes for downsizing as well. Thoughtful design can adapt to repurpose a large room into two smaller conference rooms depending on the needs of the business.

From a simple video conferencing cart to a multi-camera hybrid collaboration space with accessible, interactive technologies, Legrand | AV solutions can grow with you as your organization evolves. Create the best seat in the house for all employees.

Businesses that focus on cultivating a culture of belonging with transformative workplace experiences will ensure employees feel valued as members of the team. They will be more likely to want to return to the office to use collaboration tools in person, yet know they will be able to equally contribute when they need to stay at home.
