Legrand | AV Better Communities

Transforming the Way People Live and Work

Legrand works to enhance both employee and community welfare through programs that help people enjoy healthier, more productive and more rewarding lives. Our initiatives range from building new homes for people in need to inspiring employee involvement.

Our Better Communities program supports employee volunteer and philanthropic efforts in the communities where we live and work. In order to produce the greatest possible impacts, we've focused our efforts on three specific causes: Better Homes & Neighborhoods, Better Schools, and Better Well-Being.

Our Better Communities Philosophy

Legrand | AV is committed to enhancing our local involvement efforts to truly make a difference. The Legrand | AV Better Communities committee of site captains, along with a network of volunteers throughout the organization across our multiple sites, sponsors organizations and events, giving special consideration to programs and activities in which Legrand | AV employees are involved.

We accept internal requests from employees, sponsoring programs within the focal areas and preferably those that employees are actively participating in and/or supporting. In 2022, Legrand | AV’s Better Communities team donated over $48,000 to 36 different organizations.

16 Hours of Volunteer Time Off

Full-time employees receive 16 hours of paid time off to volunteer in Legrand-sponsored Better Communities events. Each Legrand site has a Better Communities site captain who is responsible for organizing local volunteer events, including home builds and school projects.

Our Focal Areas

Better Homes & Neighborhoods

Legrand partners with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Building Homes for Heroes, and Rebuilding Together to assist families and individuals looking to construct or improve upon their living conditions. These organizations specialize in meeting the critical needs of veterans, under-resourced families, and people with disabilities.

Better Schools

Through the Better Communities program, and in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools, Legrand associates help K-12 and higher education institutions reduce their environmental impact and become healthier learning environments by improving waste, water and energy management, and encouraging sustainability literacy through a combination of volunteerism, monetary and product donations.

Better Well-Being

By supporting non-profit organizations like the American Red Cross and Feeding America, we are committed to helping provide emergency assistance and disaster relief, and battling food insecurity in our communities.

“Year after year, our employees have gone above and beyond in demonstrating an unwavering commitment to helping those impacted by these tragic natural disasters. We recognize that generous individual contributions, including those at Legrand, are invaluable in these recovery efforts and are happy to be able to give back to those in need,” stated John Selldorff, President and CEO, Legrand North and Central America.
