Vaddio PTZ Cameras Make the Grade for Lecture Capture at GW Law
Vaddio PTZ Cameras Make the Grade for Lecture Capture at GW Law
The George Washington University Law School (GW Law) is one of the leading law schools in the country. GW Law enriches its approximately 2,000 students’ learning experiences by providing classroom recordings with advanced AV technologies. GW Law classrooms are now equipped for lecture capture with Vaddio RoboSHOT 12 and 30 PTZ cameras, Vaddio AV Bridges and Cattura recording devices.
GW Law had already been using cameras and lecture capture for a number of years and was in the process of upgrading and making renovations to their AV systems before coming to Acuity Audio Visual, an integrator located about 45 minutes west of GW Law in Manassas, VA. The renovations included the addition of HD Vaddio cameras, as well as AV Bridges in all 55 of their classrooms. Rooms have at least two cameras, typically with one camera placed in the back of the room for recording lectures and a second camera to use during events.
All of these systems needed to combine video recording and streaming with Cattura solutions and be compatible with web-based video conferencing software such as Skype, Zoom, GoToMeeting and others. This allows for students to review recorded lectures to study, which is crucial because they are graded on a single final exam. It also allows for GW Law faculty, via the Vaddio AV Bridge, to bring a guest lecturer into the classroom from anywhere in the world without having to worry about travel or budget concerns. On the other end the guest lecturer enjoys HD quality video of the classroom on their end of the students they’re addressing.
Ultimately, Vaddio RoboSHOT cameras paired with the capabilities of the Cattura capturing devices have given GW Law students access to better quality video recordings for studying. At the same time faculty committees or other organizations can record their events and simply upload recordings directly to YouTube or save them as an mp4 file on a thumb drive. Events in GW Law’s moot courtroom, a premiere venue, can be streamed and recorded to YouTube in 1080p full-blow HD out. The end result is a better video and streaming experience at all levels of GW Law.
